A new church is born… and she is sooo cute.

All that does not grow and reproduce will one find itself on the verge of extinction.  This is true for the church of Jesus Christ as well; if she is not reproducing she is dying and if the church is dying then you can be certain that the society around the church is on its last breath.  This is why it is critical for any church to have a vision for replication, to plant more covenant communities that expand the kingdom of Christ to more people in more places.   That was the genesis of the vision that was caught many years ago in Castle Rock Colorado.  Reformation Church in Castle Rock was but a handful of years old itself, but the vision was clearly stated by Pastor Kevin Swanson to replicate and plant many likeminded churches all across Colorado.  The vision was not just an idea but an objective.  To accomplish the objective would take resources and leadership.   God in His sovereignty brought to Kevin Swanson Dave Buehner to help start the Generations with Vision ministry and the Generations radio program.  Dave also became an elder at Reformation and began seminary studies.  After many years of co-laboring together it was time to step out in faith.  This year what began as a vision for replication gave birth and a new church south of Castle Rock and minutes north of Colorado Springs.

We are happy to announce a bouncing baby church named Christ the King Church.  The delivery was made slightly more difficult due to Dave Buehner choosing to seek affiliation for her in the CPC because of their agreement on distinctives.   Reformation Church is an OPC body so this was like a breach labor, but both mother and child are doing well.   Christ the King has five member families with 35 children.  Dave is the only elder at present, but has found much help from Reformation Church and Dominion Covenant Church in Omaha.  Dave continues to work with Generations with Vision and serves as an “abbot” at a shepherd center; a discipleship ministry of Generations with Vision.   The week of the first meeting of Christ the King Church, God ordained an automobile accident for one of our families.  The police charged the family with an egregious charge and the new church had her first opportunity to sacrificially love a brother in need.

The body of Christ the King has grown in love toward each other over the last couple of months.  The Lord’s Day begins with prayer time where all the members of the church are encouraged to lift up praise, thanksgiving and petitions to our King.  The worship service itself is designed to be an encounter with the King on His throne by his children.  Evening worship, shared meals and fellowship in the park round out most Lord’s day celebrations.   Christ the King (CtK) has been meeting in a chapel nestled in the pines that serves a little country grave yard.  Recently the congregation hiked up Mt. Herman, a local high spot, where we not only enjoyed the fellowship, but enjoyed the majesty of God’s creation.  CtK is still in her infancy, but she is committed to equipping homes to disciple her covenant children and to daily practice of worship in the home.   It is our goal to make no room for watering down the Word; 100 proof preaching, God centered worship accompanied by faith and repentance.  With such a small beginning music has been a little underwhelming, but we trust that our Father enjoys His children.   By God’s grace CtK will grow, mature and one day give birth to yet another church.   The Fields are white!
