Foothills Assembly Celebrates 5 Years

Sailboats and saints gathered on the banks of Clark’s Hill Lake just north of North Augusta, South Carolina amid spectacular fall foliage. Founding members and friends of Foothills Assembly celebrated a special time of feasting, dancing and fellowship remembering God’s kindness to them over the past five years since their church has been established.

Pastor Matthew Clark read a paper of remembrance and thanksgiving for this ever-growing part of the Kingdom of God.

“Five years ago, by God’s grace and truth, Foothills Christian Assembly sprung forth from a desire to build a church upon the unshakable foundation of God’s Word alone, where preaching, worship, the sacraments and the discipleship focus of the church would be governed through and through by God’s Word alone,” Clark said. “Dismayed by the accelerating decay of our culture and the apparent irrelevance and anemia of the church in our age, we cried out to the Lord to help us be His Body here, a genuine incarnation of Christ’s Presence and Power in our region, unto the expression of His Kingdom in us and through us, longing to participate in God’s work of widespread Christian revival and pervasive cultural reformation.” [Read full statement here]

Foundation Church of Ohio’s Pastor Mark Robinette, an augmenting elder on the session of Foothills since sponsoring its membership into the Covenant Presbyterian Church denomination, was in attendance with his family. A collection of church musicians played and children danced on this happy occasion and a large quantity of barbecue was consumed and all reveled in the goodness of God.
